3rd August 2015 - 1st January 2016

Tate Liverpool, Albert Dock

In August a new free exhibition opening as part of the gallery’s DLA Piper Series: Constellations at Tate Liverpool.

The collection will feature over 180 artworks by numerous artists including Sir Peter Blake, Grayson Perry, Marcel Duchamp and Eduardo Paolozzi.

Constellations groups together major works from the Tate collection to encourage the exploration of connections between them.

The unveiling, on 3 August will have an emphasis on British pop artists exploring American culture and society of the 1960s. Excitingly this new addition to Constellations includes a number of works that have never before been on public display.

Sir Peter Blake – whose Dazzle Ship many of you will have admired on Liverpool’s waterfront – will have a piece on display known as, ‘The Masked Zebra Kid 1965′. The piece features a collage dedicated to the American wrestler of whom Blake was a fan.

Other themes discovered across the free exhibition include femininity, race, identity and parody through a selection of different media including installation and video works spanning almost nine decades.
